Birthday Evening

I love this picture with Alex and Grandpa McD, sitting at the island counter eating pizza and chocolate cake together.

And this hardly seems fair: Rory nibbling on her yellow squash while Alex gets to dig into rich chocolate cake and frosting. It kinda looks like we're horrible parents playing favorites. I can just imagine Rory as a teenager looking back at these pictures and us trying to explain, "You had horrible food allergies! We were doing what was best for you!" And Rory scoffing, "yeah, right! I see how it is!" And I bet anything she won't believe us that she LOVED yellow squash and couldn't get enough of it... she really does love yellow squash. But this just looks so funny with Alex eating cake and Rory eating squash.
